BIOGRAPHY
Hi, I am Sara Sousa, I was born on 10th of February of 2000, and I’m a student of Cinema and Audiovisuals at ESAP (Escola Superior Artística do Porto).
In addition to being a student, I am also a freelancer in the audiovisual area, particularly in the environmental sustainability area.
I have always loved cinema, but it wasn’t until I lived in Amsterdam for 8 months that I’ve decided that cinema was what I really wanted to pursue. During that year, I realized that creativity doesn’t really have a limit and that I don’t need to follow the stigmas and commercial ideals to create art.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
October 2020 - February 2021
SHORT "DILÚVIO" - HONORABLE MENTION FANTASPORTO
I was the director of production and continuity supervisor at the short “Dilúvio”, directed by Eduardo Cruz and shooted in Vieira do Minho. It was nominated for Best Portuguese Short at the festival Fantasporto and got an honorable mention.

CINEMA AND AUDIOVISUALS GRADUATION COURSE
I’m on the 3rd year of my graduation of Cinema an Audiovisuals at ESAP. I’ve produced and did camera in the shorts: “Advena” and “Sísifo”. Directed the shorts/projects “Dualismo”, “Alerta”, “Perfídia”, “Covid na Arte” and “Woyzeck”. Was assistant director and camera in the short “Contágio”. Was DoP in the short "Inner".

ERASMUS IN MARIBOR, SLOVENIA
I did Erasmus ant Academia d. o. o in Slovenia and was one of the most enriching experiences of my life. I was able to learn how to work in cinema in practice, use a lot of different materials, and also explore photography. Besides that I did a documentary called "A Memory in Paper"

BIORUMO - VIDEOGRAPHY BAZE
Currently working on the project “BaZe – Balanço Zero”, an initiative from Maia’s City Council. The project’s goal is to turn Maia’s city the first Net Zero Carbon City. Under contract with the company BioRumo, I am in charge of recording and editing the project’s videos to be post on social media.

CINEMA AND AUDIOVISUAL
In the audiovisual field, I’ve done very diverse projects, both academically and professionally. Academically I’ve done shorts, a videoclip, a trailer, a commercial and some other video projects.
Professionally I’ve done some institutional videos under contract with BioRumo.
In the first section you’ll find a showreel of my most recent projects.
In the second section there is some academic projects I did.
And in the last section is the launch video of the project BaZe.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Behind The Scenes
In a "not so professional" side, but more as a hobby, I also photograph, especially scene photography. This kind of work allows me to be present in many movie sets and I am able to learn more about work methods and movie directing, while I also do something that I enjoy.
